American Family Part 2

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have enough, it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”  –  Franklin Roosevelt

In Part 2 of All American Family we focus more on the issue of joblessness and under employment in the city of Detroit, Michigan in the Summer of 2008. Juan and LaKeena struggle to find a way out of COTS and a more secure life or the kids, but it seems that every “opportunity” is a dead end or another political promise that fails to live up to the hype.

Following the family of four through the routines, experiences and emotions of losing a home and trying to find a new one in the aftermath of the 2007 financial crisis, the film attempts to put an honest lens on the effects of poverty in 21st Century America.
